Sawyer, the out of school enrichment solution for modern parents, is searching for a PR & Communications Manager to lead all public relations, partnership, and events efforts including to help create and promote the public image of Sawyer. You’ll join an innovative, mission-driven organization as a foundational member of the marketing team and own the external communications of all products, the company at large, and the leadership team. This position reports directly to the Director of Marketing.

Core Responsibilities

• Craft and ensure high quality, accurate press releases, corporate fact sheets, talking points, messaging docs, presentations, and other communications materials for external and internal audiences
• Collaborate with stakeholders to tell the brand story to our customer segments
• Define the go-to-market communications strategies around product launches and key company moments
• Oversee that the message architecture between internal, consumer, and press communications are consistent and cohesive
• Lead ad-hoc media projects on behalf of our management team
• Develop thought leadership both in the technology and education industry, and promote the company’s mission and values
• Foster authentic media and influencer relationships to generate press and develop content
• Keep a pulse on the Sawyer consumer and parenting community and develop relationships with the biggest Sawyer evangelists
• Build and strengthen in-house media relations capabilities on the business, media and trade side and be responsible for arranging media interviews (print, video, broadcast and online) with executives and manage preparation and research, as well as conducting any necessary follow-up
• Conduct quarterly reporting and metrics to quantify PR performance by category competition
• Monitor high visibility and business-building awards programs and manage company entries
• Crisis communications and issues management as required
• Monitor industry news calendars, as well as market-related news and events, to assess proactive opportunities for media outreach
• Management and execution of events including the press, guest list, etc.
• Collaborate with other internal teams on key initiatives, projects, insights/data and goals

About You

• Experience: 3 - 5 years of experience working in PR, digital communications or related field
• Education: Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Journalism or related field
• Start-up or agency experience is a plus
• Exceptional writing, editing and proofreading skills with an eye for detail
• Excellent presentation skills
• Experience creating communications for a diverse audience
• Superior organizational and project management skills
• Comfortable multi-tasking; Can self-prioritize tasks to achieve deadlines
• Experience in an entrepreneurial environment a plus
