Grove Collaborative is growing! To support our growth and continue delighting our customers, we are looking for a Packing/Shipping Manager to own all shipping activities at our fulfillment center in St. Peters, MO. The right candidate will have experience planning, organizing, and leading all packing and shipping activities in a high volume e-commerce fulfillment environment. You will be responsible for ensuring your team meets and maintains productivity, accuracy, and safety standards for all packing, shipping, and truck loading processes.
Your Responsibilities
* Train, monitor, motivate and coach all packing/shipping staff, to include both a full-time and temporary workforce
* Create a staffing plan to ensure processing goals are met during peak seasons and that labor efficiency goals are met
* Manage a busy shipping department to include the planning and ordering packaging materials and supplies, overseeing all packing and shipping processes, ensuring quality standards are met and that orders are shipped within the appropriate timelines
* Ensure that staff is well trained in best practices for packing and using outbound equipment
* Coordinate with UPS, USPS and other outbound carriers to ensure that Grove packages enter carrier systems in a timely manner
* Monitor daily productivity performance for outbound associates, ensuring best practice procedures are being observed to ensure a safe work environment
* Work to consistently improve processes and practices to ensure “best practice” in procedures, equipment utilization, efficiency, cost reduction and employee satisfaction
* Ensure all warehouse equipment is properly maintained, that additional equipment is procured in a timely manner and that shipping area is compliant with asset protection protocols
* Ensure reasonable housekeeping measures are maintained in order to ensure a well- organized and safe workplace
* Create employee development plans to establish a growth path for high achieving outbound associates
* Maintain excellent communication within the packing/shipping group through effective pre-shift meetings and one-on-one communications
* Partner with Operations Manager, Picking Manager, Inbound Manager and Inventory Manager to ensure overall operations are running smoothly
* All other duties as assigned
About You
* 7 or more years experience as a Warehouse or Shipping Manager in an e-commerce fulfillment environment
* High school diploma or GED with college coursework, continuing technical education or comparable business experience preferred
* Experience with WMS systems and the ability to learn proprietary software, proficiency using Microsoft Excel and Word
* Ability to develop procedures, training documents and safety/compliance manualsCertifications in LEAN, Six Sigma, ISO 9001, etc. preferred
* Experience using and maintaining warehouse equipment – to include forklifts, reach trucks, powered conveyors, pallet jacks and scanning devices
* Demonstrated ability to conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times and to communicate effectively, resolve workplace conflicts before they escalate, maintain appropriate confidentiality and to promote a positive and productive work environment
* Strong leadership skills in fostering a culture of integrity, inclusiveness, teamwork and leading by example, providing clear and constructive feedback and coaching
* Strong sense of urgency, ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects, commitment to achieving results
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills, proficiency to read, write, speak and understand English
* Strong organizational skills and attention to detail with a proactive and self-motivated approach
* A track record of driving process improvements, questioning the status quo, recommending best practices and effective problem solving
* Flexibility in work schedules to accommodate the needs of the business including nights, weekends and holidays
* Ability to independently lift up to 60 lbs
