Job Description

• Understand rapidly evolving product objectives, and write, review, and deploy code to meet them.
• Critique product specification documents so the resulting development efforts are elegant and improve the user’s experience.
• Lead code reviews, refactoring, and ensure the codebase is well documented, maintainable, and scalable
• Implement data models, database schema, and queries for optimal performance and scalability
• Manage AWS resources to ensure a secure and stable backend

In The First Week, expect to:

• Be assigned high-priority features for development (think push notifications, user profiles, etc.)
• Complete developer onboarding and get to speed on the product context
• Go through the engineering wiki and understand the technical architecture, stack, and backlog

In The First Three Months, expect to:

• Ship features required to scale the user base of our android app by 10x
• Optimize cloud infrastructure to support more storage requirements at a minimal cost
• Participate in the hiring and onboarding of 1-3 more engineers
• Build our engineering culture and standards

In The First 6-12 Months, expect to:

• Deal with architecture and scaling challenges as the platform scales to one million users
• Take on a senior position to help set strategy and long-term goals
• Research and advise on the integration of LLM, ASR, and other AI-tools into the product

Requirements

• Have at least 4 years of professional experience as a backend developer of which at least 1 year is in a Python framework (Flask or Django)
• Have experience building REST APIs for frontend applications.
• Have an understanding of considerations in scalability of backend systems
• Experience working with AWS infrastructure (EC2, Lambda, S3)
• Experience contributing to a technical architecture and roadmap
• Exposure to early-stage startups, preferably D2C
