Software Engineering Manager

GoExpedi is a Texas-based startup working to reinvent purchasing of parts and supplies for oil and gas drilling rigs. We are a fast-growing company with an established presence in the market that is looking to rapidly build out our platform of procurement, e-commerce, supply chain management, and data visualization to become the leader in the industrial procurement space. We’re headquartered in Houston, TX with offices in Guadalajara, MX, and spoke warehouses in Odessa, TX, San Antonio, TX, Cheyenne, WY, and Bakersfield, CA.

We are looking for an Engineering Manager to open up our second engineering office and lead teams who are developing and extending our products, which include our E-Commerce Marketplace, Management Control Center, Data and AI/ML platforms.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Responsible for the engineering practice, staff budgeting, and delivery metrics of the GoExpedi office location in question.
• Work with our technical leadership and other business leaders to build, enhance, and maintain GoExpedi’s technical solutions and software products based on business objectives.
• Accountable for the productivity and growth of the team and individuals, including (but not limited to) setting goals, performance management, recruiting, coaching, and ensuring a balance of correct skills for given priorities.
• Act as thought leadership in employing software development best practices, identifying new technologies, opportunities for improvements, and overall execution of our technology objectives.

REQUIREMENTS:
• 10 years minimum in a software engineering or software consulting capacity.
• 1-2 years' experience with Python, JavaScript, micro-services, AWS
• 5 years of relevant management experience in a senior team lead role building a team/office and engineering culture.
• Significant experience to be able to provide peer feedback (design, PRs) and helping to grow, mentor other teammates inside and outside your team, as well as reductions
• Practical knowledge of software patterns and best practices (SOLID, 12FA, etc.)
• Adherence to security and secure development practices
• Experience building web frameworks with Django, Flask, Django ORM and Jinja templates
• Experience querying and constructing SQL databases (we actively use Postgres)
• Strong English written and speaking skills

• Strong communication skills to work through problems and solutions with our business teams in the US.
• A passion for continuous learning and a desire to keep up with technology trends
• Experience working with micro-service and/or event-driven architectures
• Location: Must reside in Dallas
