If you are looking to lead, be part of a game-changing business in a huge market, want to do good for others and the environment, then you should consider joining Copia as our Chief Operating Officer.

Now more than ever we need technology to improve our cities, our lives, our planet. That is exactly what Copia is building -- a for-profit technology solution to reduce food waste and hunger across America (and eventually, the world...yes, the world). Our business model generates strong margins. We are poised to scale.

The Big Picture: Copia is a company that will fundamentally change the world. We are looking for a senior leader to join our team who is flexible enough to pivot when necessary, grounded enough to get through the growing pains of an early-stage startup, and empathetic enough to value the company’s mission and the people we serve. You are someone who gets things done regardless of what it takes. You are at your core fired up and inspired by our mission and our ability to become a trailblazing company (and inevitably a global movement).

Copia is a great opportunity for a COO who has the heart of an entrepreneur, the brain of an operator, and a proven track record in execution. Working closely with the Founder, Chief Evangelist, and Executive Chairwoman, you will oversee Copia’s ongoing and future business operations. The COO will drive strategy, fundamentally influencing the direction of the company, and oversee the exceptional execution of operations, ensuring customer satisfaction and developing long-term and strategic relationships with key influencers and decision-makers.

Bonus Points: If you also have a background in running/managing products, B2B sales, scaling startups, and fundraising, you would be the unicorn of our dreams!

• Design the organizational structure to enable the company to scale;
• Grow bookings and revenue. Our revenue growth target is $30M+ in <5 years;
• Develop operational performance metrics and drive execution (e.g., consideration of efficiency vs. effectiveness);
• Recruit world-class team members;
• Lead and develop the team to manage all operational elements of the company, including finance, accounting, legal, and HR;
• Drive organization-wide performance acceleration and with rapid pace, build operational infrastructure to support new company strategies and/or initiatives that support further revenue generation opportunities;
• Work with the Sales and Business Operations teams to develop BD & sales strategy, including opportunities for top-line growth and nationwide expansion;
• Influence, negotiate, and execute major strategic partnerships;
• Oversee communications and management of the company’s investors.

Preferred Experience & Background:

• 5+ years of demonstrated success in operations that resulted in sustaining new business lines, market share growth, and revenue growth;
• Strong preference for startup experience in a leadership role - Seed to Series B;
• Experience leading company operations at an early stage company or leading a significant part of the organization or line of business at a large company through a period of rapid scale;
• Experience managing P&L (>$10M);
• Demonstrated competency in strategic planning and business development.

Nice to Have Experience:

• Consulting/banking/financial services experience;
• Experience selling to or consulting for large enterprise clients (preferably in software, healthcare and/or food industries).

Required Skills:

• Results-oriented leader;
• Able to operate strategically and tactically as needed;
• Highly analytical, data-driven strategic thinker - you will be building new business models and first of its kind partnership structures;
• Ability to build consensus with internal stakeholders, external stakeholders and investors;
• High energy, thoughtful, and persistent with excellent interpersonal and presentation skills.

As Part of Our Team, You Will Enjoy:

• Competitive salary, comprehensive health coverage, commuter benefits, and meaningful equity;

• And much more…

And Finally: You're already based in or are open to moving to and working in the San Francisco Bay Area. You can start yesterday (or really soon)! You are excited to get in on the ground floor of a rapidly growing startup and are willing to take the risk-reward payoff that comes with that in the long run. It'll be the ride of a lifetime! Are you up for the challenge?
