Instructor, Web Development Immersive

Apply now
Web Development Immersive (WDI) is a rigorous 12-week/full-time educational experience where students obtain the skills to take on new careers as junior-level web developers. We are currently looking for several new instructors to join the instructional team at GA's Boston campus and help us expand the program so that we can reach more students.

Teaching provides an opportunity to deepen your own technical skills (and to hone leadership and communication skills as well) while also giving back to the community and making an impact on the lives of your students. For some students, taking a course like WDI can be truly life-changing, allowing them access to a career and a community that might otherwise have been totally out of reach.

For the moment, Web Development Immersive teaches a stack built on Ruby, Rails, and (typically) Postgres; however, because our curriculum is always evolving, it is possible that this might change at some point. On the front-end side, we spend a lot of time on JavaScript, jQuery, AJAX, and Angular.js. We also typically cover a lot of other topics (e.g. TDD in Rspec and Jasmine, D3, CoffeeScript, Redis) in between.

We know that this is a wide range of topics, and we're not necessarily looking for one person to be an expert in all these areas - instead, you'll be working on a team with 1-3 other instructors, whose skills will complement your own. What's more important is that you're willing to learn the tools and frameworks that you're weaker on, so that you eventually do master them.
