FORTE has developed a social and interactive platform that allows users to stream live and on-demand fitness classes from coveted boutique fitness studios featuring top trainers coaching a myriad of workouts while tracking their performance in real time so users can compare and compete.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
FORTE is seeking a Streaming Media Systems Engineer to build, install, operate, and maintain the video streaming hardware infrastructure and related technologies. This engineer will join a small and highly-experienced team looking to change the face of fitness. A successful candidate is highly organized, detailed-oriented, flexible, willing to learn, and has a great work ethic & attitude. Once proven, opportunity exists for this individual to take on much greater responsibilities, and help the startup scale to new heights.
Responsibilities:
Build out and configure the streaming hardware, and ensure that the system meets quality expectations
Deploy streaming hardware into the field at various studios, or support local operators in doing so.
Produce live streaming events and VOD content, in collaboration with the platform engineering team and in coordination with the customer support team
Perform analysis, diagnosis and resolution of video encoding/transcoding hardware/software and implement corrective solutions
Configure, develop, test and implement appropriate codec settings for live video and on demand streaming
Provide great customer service to studios that has questions or encounter issues
Consult and help implement current and future video products
Monitor and conduct regular inspections of video streaming infrastructure
Maintain documentation of hardware maintenance, configuration, failures, removal, and installation
Requirements:
Technical Must haves:
Demonstrated experience in installing, configuring, supporting, and troubleshooting hardware and software technologies surrounding video streaming and delivery (live/on demand) or related fields
Solid foundational knowledge of computer systems (desktops, servers, embedded systems). Comfortable working with hardware components (e.g. CPUs, Motherboards, NIC cards, Cameras).
Comfortable working in both a Windows and Linux environment
Working knowledge of networking and networking components (routers, switches, firewalls, OS configurations)
Experience working with server software (e.g. Windows Server, Flash Media Server, ffmpeg, x264, Telestream).
Other must haves:
Deliver and maintain technical support at the highest level of quality and professionalism.
Setting up and breaking down of equipment in the field
Solid troubleshooting experience, with the ability to deconstruct a problem and resolve the root cause
Great communication skills and responsive to team members and customers alike
Ability to lift up to 50lbs.
Ability to commute to either New York City and Long Island on a daily basis
Flexible schedule a must – night and weekend work may be required
Good to have:
Familiarity with a broad range of audio/video systems components
Knowledge of streaming providers and vendors: CDN's, Cloud Providers, Encoding Hardware/software, etc
Strong knowledge of video infrastructure signal flow.
Audio/Video background, especially as it applies to digital signal processing (gain, compressions, muxing)
Experience programming with scripting languages
Experience with digital video and audio editing software.
