DESCRIPTION

At FLYR, we're changing the way airline industries use data to ease the traveler’s experience — from dynamic pricing, elastic demand forecasting, to bundling the best offers for end users. We’re taking off on a mission to deliver a real-time prediction and tracking platform to major travel industry partners, each with millions of consumers hungry for a new, first-rate travel shopping experience.

We are seeking an experienced Senior Technical Project Manager to manage software implementation projects for large enterprise clients in the airline industry. This position will be based in San Francisco, report to our Director of Product, and will be responsible for ensuring that projects are completed on-time, within scope and budget and achieve high levels of customer satisfaction. In addition, the Senior Technical Project Manager will help develop standardized processes and documentation and will mentor other members of the project management team on best practices. If you enjoy solving problems, working with cross functional teams and the opportunity to build out processes as you manage multiple high profile projects, then this is the perfect opportunity for you!

WHAT WILL YOUR DESTINATION LOOK LIKE AT FLYR?

Interact with our major commercial airline clients to define project scope, timelines, and success criteria.
Facilitate internal project meetings and client status calls. Ensure regular and timely communication between customer project team members. Document decisions and action items from meetings and follow up with team members to ensure that tasks are completed in a timely manner.
Document and manage project scope. Identify client-specific IT or software development work that is required as part of the project launch.
Identify, track and manage change requests. Communicate the impact of changes on the overall project both internally and with the client.
Create and track detailed timelines for all workstreams to ensure that the project tasks and phases are completed on-time.
Liaise with the client and internal teams to address obstacles and unblock team members.
Utilize Atlassian’s suite of tools (JIRA, Portfolio, Confluence) to track software development, communicate project details and report on project status to internal stakeholders.
Partner with product managers and scrum masters to ensure that details in JIRA are accurate, complete and up to date.
Track risks and mitigation plans and escalate to senior leadership as necessary.
Work with cross functional teams to develop and iterate on FLYR’s playbook for on-boarding new airline customers.
Share project management best practices with other members of the project management team. Mentor others and help create a culture of collaboration.

WHAT CAN YOU BRING ON THIS TRIP?

7+ years of experience with running agile software development implementation projects as a client facing project manager.
Strong leadership and people management skills, and capacity to interact directly with customers including senior technical and program management leadership.
Track record of successfully managing large-scale IT projects with multiple teams and deliverables.
Able to communicate with both technical and non-technical audiences.
Start-up mentality. Is not afraid to roll-up his/her sleeves and help with updating tickets in Jira, documenting a process that hasn’t been defined yet, assisting with an RFP, etc.
Ability to operate under pressure and tight deadlines
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Extremely organized and has a meticulous attention to detail
Proficient in Atlassian tools
Experienced with Agile software development methodologies
Willingness to travel internationally to client sites and FLYR offices in Europe (<30%)
Willingness to take client calls at night and early in the morning. FLYR’s internal teams and clients have offices in the US, Europe and Asia. Most meetings will be held during normal business hours (9:00 AM - 5:00 PM PST), but you must have availability to take client calls early in the morning and at night.
Familiarity with machine learning and airline revenue management is a big plus
