Based in San Francisco, Firebrand’s integrated public relations, demand generation and digital marketing programs help startups outshine their competitors. We work with a roster of hand-picked startups which are leaders in their field and backed by prominent VCs including a16z, First Round, GV, Initialized, LightSpeed, Menlo Ventures and Unusual VC. Our clients are technology startups – primarily with complex propositions which need clear positioning and messaging. At present, clients range from ‘deep tech’ – data analytics, AI, storage, agile development and application delivery – to ‘health tech’ – hearables and neuroinformatics.


About the role

We’re looking for a Content Marketing Manager with strong inbound marketing skills, and a focus on the technology sector. The ideal candidate will have a copywriting background, and will excel at creating compelling content which drives business outcomes for startups.

The role is part of a senior marketing team well-versed in PR and digital marketing. This position will be responsible for content strategy, creation, publishing and amplification. Understanding best-practice across social channels, SEO and measurement are vital.

Other members of the team will include marketing strategists, copywriters, digital marketing experts and influencer relations specialists. We expect you to have a firm grasp of running a successful and growing content program.


Responsibilities

Strategy

* Develop effective content marketing strategies for clients, including themes, ideas, content types, and an editorial plan to meet their business objectives
* Coordinate, align and drive efforts across integrated programs including PR, SEO, PPC, social and email marketing
* Advise about content strategies for channel-specific programs e.g. on LinkedIn

Creation

* Create content for specific buyer personas aimed at engagement and conversion
* Editorial requirements include drafting, editing, proofreading and publishing of content
* Content should align with brand voice, style, tone and visual identity for each client

Implementation

* Management of all creative resources including designers, writers, and other agency personnel
* Coordination and channel management primarily across owned and shared social media
* Implementing SEO best practices

Budgeting

* Managing the content marketing and promotional sponsorship budget

Measurement

* Measurement, optimization of the program and regular reporting of performance to clients


Requirements


* 5-8 years’ relevant marketing experience, ideally in an agency
* BA/BSc degree in marketing, journalism or relevant field
* Deep tech sector domain expertise, including working with startups
* Experience creating content and growing a social audience
* Ability to analyze and present content, SEO and social media performance
* Experience with WordPress, Google Analytics, and the top social channels
* Excellent project management skills
* Good presentation skills in front of C-level execs
* Unflappable, practical, proactive, mature approach
* Not afraid to work hard, be humble, ask questions, learn new things
