Eat.ly started based on an insight that most people eat so quickly the never stop to think about what they're putting into their bodies. We built a mobile app that encouraged people to take a photo before they ate, forcing them to take a moment to reflect.

Not surprisingly, sharing these photos publicly also encouraged eating better foods. In fact, the more healthy the food, the better the image (colors matter!).

We bootstrapped the company as a side project among four friends and eventually sold the app to Foodspotting in 2010. We were also featured in Tim Ferriss' book: The Four Hour Body.
