At dTOOR, we make "Non-Rectangular Phones for Non-Rectangular People" starting with a phone in the shape of a circle, called The Cyrcle Phone. We released a 2G version of The Cyrcle Phone on Kickstarter in 2016 and delivered all units within 60 days. Since then we have been developing the 4G LTE Android version of The Cyrcle Phone, and would love to have you join us at this exciting stage. dTOOR is looking for an experienced and motivated senior embedded software engineer for our innovative engineering team in Bellevue, WA. You will be working in an agile, collaborative, and results-focused environment, leading the initiative of building our embedded software using the Android ecosystem. This role requires experience in development and integration using the Android ecosystem and C. In this role, you will work on the firmware stack and collaborate other members of the team to extend the underlying platforms by adding new software and hardware capabilities.

Please note that this is not a remote role as you will need to work onsite with each hardware prototype iteration in Bellevue. We will be hiring you as a contractor. Further, we will not be able to provide Visa assistance at this time.

- Experience in embedded software development
- Experience configuring the Android Operating System, kernel, developing device drivers, and building applications for the Android platform
- Extensive knowledge of embedded Linux/Android system software layers, including OS kernel, open source stack, and middleware.
- Programming experience in Android and C.
- Bootloader development
- Linux experience.

- BSCS/BSEE or equivalent
- Experience developing in an embedded, preferably consumer-focused product environment. Experience in deploying products at scale will be key.
- Extraordinary development skills regardless of the language or environment: C/C++, Python, Swift, Linux, iOS/Android, etc.
- Deep understanding of software architectural patterns and best practices
- Practical experience with the Linux and/or other RTOS kernel, driver models, memory management, etc.
- Understanding of standard bus connectivity schemes, including I2C, SPI, SDIO, etc.
- Experience with video, display or audio drivers
- Familiarity with open source and open source development methodologies
- Experience with nix shells, tools, and technologies
- SOC, embedded, and general consumer electronics background
- Android OS Mobile development experience
- Knowledge of Bluetooth and BLE transactions
- Manufacturing software and diagnostics
- Demonstrated creativity using Arduino or other microcontrollers
