We are looking for a qualified individual to join our growing data team. The main responsibility is to systematically build up our proprietary data sets, and also to improve and manage overall quality and standards. The data includes but is not limited to medical terms and concepts, clinician profiles, and healthcare industry data. The main day-to-day activities will include data collection, data validation, data merging and consolidation, standardization and normalization, and research.

This is not a software or big data engineering position. The Data Manager will not be running Python scripts and R for instance. However, there is exciting career advancement potential into data analytics and data mining.

This position reports directly to the VP of Engineering. This is a full-time, salaried position, working five days a week out of our San Francisco headquarter office. (No remote work requests, please.)

Qualifications:

-- Bachelor’s degree (preferably in Science or Information Management)
-- Well-organized, detail-oriented and natural ability to effectively multi-task
-- Must love “data” and be passionate about data quality – accuracy, consistency, and simplicity
-- Proven research discipline
-- Experience in handling and processing rows of data and data in multiple formats
-- Experience with, or trained in, healthcare data including medical, biology, public health, and industry
-- Knowledge of SQL and experience with database management systems a plus but not required as you will be taught these skills in this role

Responsibilities:

-- Research and identify new data sources
-- Execute and implement data collection activities, and verify the accuracy and completeness of the data
-- Execute daily and periodic processes to maintain and improve data quality and standards
-- Work closely with Community Managers and Clinician Advocates in addition to internal and external domain experts in knowledge engineering processes, including data gathering and acquisition, validation, and consolidation
-- Work closely with data mining and machine learning experts to support their data requirements and transformations
