didtechnology/digitalundivided (DID), an award-winning, not-for-profit 501(c)(3) social enterprise with the mission to create a world where women own their work through entrepreneurship and innovation, is looking for an experienced Vice President-Marketing and Communications. Reporting to the CEO, the right leader will be a key member of the organization’s executive leadership team and an active participant in making strategic decisions affecting DID, bringing strong communications expertise to support the organization’s mission.

The Vice President- Marketing and Communications is responsible for all marketing and communications strategies and initiatives, with primary responsibility for strategically developing, leading and overseeing the communications and marketing department of digitalundivided and its staff, programs and initiatives. This leader will also manage the brand identity(s) and execution of a multi-channel brand that is centered on content development.

The ideal senior executive is a goal-oriented, strategic and collaborative thinker who can seamlessly execute tactics and juggle multiple internal stakeholders and external relationships while meeting deadlines. This individual must be a self-starter with previous experience developing internal and external communications strategies and an understanding of an integrated marketing and communications approach. Being a team player, it’s expected that the Vice President- Marketing and Communications’ strategies will expand the organization’s visibility and impact.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop and implement internal and external communications plans
Keep a record of communication and marketing related KPIs to measure impact and to provide and present statistical analysis Chief “owner” of all branding, marketing, and creative communications activities
Develop and manage the marketing budget and P&L.
Develop, hire and manage the marketing and communications team, including Director of Community, community engagement (social media) and other staff as needed.
Work with the CEO and Director of Strategic Partnerships & Development and other key staff in institutionalizing a communications strategy aligned with DID’s mission.
Manage outside marketing and communications vendors and contractors.
Serve as the primary press contact for digitalundivided.
Lead all aspects of our public relations activity including strategy, message development, industry expertise positioning.
Lead media training for DID staff, when necessary.
Drive proactive/reactive messaging for key programs, member of startups and thought leadership initiatives.
Develop, pitch and secure relevant, compelling stories in global, national and local tech, news and venture outlets.
Strengthen and expand existing media, industry and influencer relationships and build connections with new reporters and media outlets.
Identify and connect with potential media partnerships.
Provide advice and counsel to founders on communications strategies and tactics, as requested.

Requirements

Strong ethics, high energy and passion for DID's mission, with a focus on driving impact are essential.
10-plus years of professional experience, with demonstrated success, in a similar position, leading the communications with, for example, startups, consumer brands, high-impact non-profit/social enterprises.
A proven track record of high cultural competency, including a minimal of 5+ years experience working with racial and gender diverse communities.
Tech savvy (experienced using project and communication management software like Asana and Slack).
A proven track record of building awareness and securing coverage for an industry-leading brand/organization.
Experience developing marketing and communication strategies and implementing frameworks.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write for diverse audiences.
Deep knowledge of social media marketing, content marketing, and PR.
Experience managing a team, with a flexible and adaptable style;
Ability to work both independently without close oversight, but also a team player who will productively engage with others at varying levels of seniority within and outside DID.
Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
Ability to multitask and lead a variety of projects at a time, respecting deadlines.
Strong balance of strategic ability and tactical know-how.
Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Experience in a not-for-profit organization a plus
Knowledge and practical experience into the entrepreneurial ecosystem, the world of startups and social enterprise is a plus
