The Dataships Engineering Team is a rapidly growing team based in Dublin, Ireland. As the Engineering Lead, you’ll have key responsibility over the Dataships product suite and roadmap. You will have daily exposure to company founders and will be relied upon as the ‘go-to person’ for everything Engineering related.

This role is all about responsibility, follow-through, and being a builder. You will be highly exposed to the practicalities of customer-facing processes, the nitty-gritty of engineering, and the nuances of communicating complex ideas to leadership.

As an early, senior member of the team you will have exceptional career progression and stock option opportunities. You will also be paramount to setting up the structure, processes and culture of the rapidly growing Dataships Engineering Team.

What You’ll Do

• Define and drive the execution of the engineering strategy for the Dataships product suite.
• Collaborate with company founders, compliance experts, and customer behaviour analysts to design and build industry-leading, automated privacy solutions.
• Stay current with development trends in SaaS, API and Cloud technologies.
• Implement and champion best practices to continuously improve software development, reliability, performance, scalability, maintainability and security of the Dataships technical infrastructure.
• Be the focal point for future hiring and building of the rapidly growing engineering team.
• Mentor and manage a team of experienced engineers and grow your technical leadership skills.
• Manage a team of experienced engineers and regularly review their code to ensure high quality and scalable solutions.

What You’ll Need

• 7+ years experience in software engineering
• 3+ years experience leading a team of experienced engineers
• 2+ years experience at a rapid growth tech company
• Proficient skills in full-stack development
• Excellent C-level communication and stakeholder communication
• Strong understanding of common coding protocols and conventions
• Ability to work under pressure and project management skills to adhere to deadlines is essential
• Previous experience working within an agile development environment or with productivity tools such as JIRA

Nice To Haves

• Experience in Object-Oriented PHP software/web development with an MVC framework
• Experience with JavaScript and component-based JS frameworks such as React
• Experience of web technologies (e.g. HTML and CSS)
• Experience in Relational databases e.g. MySQL
• Experience working on mobile app development e.g. iOS, Android
• Strong understanding of AWS as a hosting environment, including database administration and scaling the application
• Strong understanding of front-end design theory UI/UX conventions
