Job Title : System Engineer – MAM (Media Asset Management)

Experience : 5 + years

Location : Bangalore

Employment Type : Contract | 3- 6 months (Extendable after 6 Months)

Notice: Immediate or 15 days Max

Education Qualification: Bachelors or Master’s in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related technical discipline.

JOB PURPOSE

The System Engineer is part of a Professional Services team with Project Managers and Solution Architects and together, the team is responsible for deploying solutions and support customers both from the office and onsite. Most of the work will be done with remote access but there will also be opportunities to travel on-site to customers.

COMPETENCE REQUIREMENTS | TECHNICAL SKILLS REQUIRED ESSENTIAL

• Linux, ideally Red Hat or CentOS

• SQL, preferably working with PostgreSQL, Oracle, and/or DB2. Including backup and High Availability setups

• Development in Python or Java, and shell scripting

• Utilising REST/SOAP based APIs, XML and/or JSON

• Networking foundation/best practices DESIRABLE

• Development in Perl, Go, Javascript

• Web app stack architecture (ideally Apache/Nginx)

• Deployment/Configuration tools – Ansible ideally

• Knowledge of Storage systems – large scale RAID arrays connected via SAN/NAS

• Knowledge of video editing e.g. Adobe Premiere, or Final Cut Pro

• Windows administration knowledge (for some application installation and integrations)

• Video Compression and transmission techniques XML transformations

• Any knowledge/use of these 3rd party applications: ActiveMQ, Solr, ffmpeg, Object Storage, Virtualisation, Infosec

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:

• 2+ years system administration experience working in a Linux environment

• 2+ years’ experience with shell scripts

• Experience in configuration and maintenance of applications such as any of the following: Apache, IBM Tivoli, PosgreSQL, NFS, CIFS, DHCP, SSH, DNS, and SNMP, SAN storage

• Programming experience in Java and scripting languages, like Perl and Python

• Knowledge about technologies such as XML, REST and SOAP

• Experience in large scale storage systems and database software like Oracle and DB2 is desirable IT and Technical skills:

• Good technical problem-solving skills

• Experience with MAM (Media Asset Management) is Mandate.

MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

• Common tasks are setting up, configuring, customizing, and testing systems which includes integration with 3rd party hardware and software.

• The System Engineer must be able to have an effective dialogue with end-users, developers, and technical staff both internally and externally.

• The position requires technical and communication skills. During critical project periods the job can be very intense, so flexibility and ability to manage high volumes of workload at once is essential qualities to have.

MAIN TASKS

• Deploy high-quality systems to Vizrt clients as part of a project team

• Configure and launch Vizrt systems into production in an efficient and professional manner

• Travel to deploy and test Vizrt systems and integrations at customer sites across EMEA as required

• Use web service APIs to build simple interfaces to external systems

• Be involved in lab tests for new software development

• Assist our support organization with technical issues encountered by customers

• Collaborate cross functionally with EMEA or Global teams to ensure the engineering of epic user experiences

• Frequently works on large projects in planning, execution, and documentation phases in an Agile environment

• Provides system admin level tasks on Broadcast and/or Media Asset Management systems. This includes adding new users, customizing pull-down menus, troubleshooting system issues, making some stability and feature enhancements, etc.
