CareGuide is currently seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our CareGuide Core team. The Role

Senior software engineers at CareGuide ship high impact features that delight our users. You work well with other stakeholders in the company to make our best ideas a reality. Your colleagues see you as an expert in one or more areas of the application. You break down high-level goals into achievable projects for yourself and others, with clear boundaries for staged delivery to track progress, understand value, and validate assumptions.

You use your experience and clarity of thought to reduce complexity not only in the projects you are working on but across the whole team. You quickly identify the risks and alternative approaches to the projects you and your teamwork on.

Our cross-functional product squads are organized around areas of impact for our users. You'll join a squad working on features to help get new users to join our marketplaces, help users find a match, or kick off a special project. You'll help mentor those around you to improve their skills and expand the breadth of their capabilities. You are interested in the next steps of your career and are able to articulate your journey. We can help you get there: whether it be people management, a pure technical track, or across functions into Data Science or Product Management.

How we do it

We follow modern software development practices, including TDD, have a solid CI pipeline, and perform rigorous code reviews. We are analytics-driven and continuously run a/b tests to inform our product design. You will be responsible for creating clean code, demonstrating great judgment with your pragmatic design and architecture choices.

Our current stack is Ruby on Rails, React, GraphQL, MySQL, Redis, and AWS. What would you add or change?


- React JS
- Many years of professional software development experience on the web
- Deep understanding of various data stores: traditional SQL databases, and newer NoSQL solutions too
- Track record of successful project delivery, preferably with a consumer product at scale
- Strong communication and leadership skills


- Ruby on Rails, or NodeJS, NextJS
- Good judgment on how and when to use unit and integration testing and CI platforms to ensure the integrity and stability of large-scale web applications
- Experience in DevOps and scaling web applications to hundreds of millions of users
