Back-end developer / DBA (Database administrator)

ByteTree are recruiting a back-end developer to enhance their data quality and governance procedures. We are looking for an enthusiastic and energetic individual with proven talent and a willingness to adapt and learn new skills. This position is full time and will report to the Head of Development and Operations.

Location: London, United Kingdom (remote considered)

Responsibilities:
Your responsibilities will include:

• Working with the team to find and develop innovative methods for optimising, testing and qualifying our big data, real-time, time-series datasets.
• Helping the team manage and develop our MongoDB infrastructure.
• Utilise and develop existing tools to monitor and maintain the quality of our data.
• Deep integration testing. Writing code to test the effect and effectiveness of new data feeds, optimising database structure for product development.
• Work with our development team to write data quality and code testing procedures (data anomaly detection and manual checks).
  
• Data governance and data quality KPIs, document workflow and audit trails.
• Ensure internal data computations and transformations align with best practice.
• Helping to define, develop and document our customer API.

Basic Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems (or an equivalent) – Talented non graduates welcome to apply.
• Minimum of two years software development experience as a backend developer
• Strong start-up spirit, ownership and high integrity are a must.

Technical Qualifications

• Must be fluent in Javascript/node.js and related tools at ES6 or higher level
• Must have strong experience with MongoDB at Enterprise level (including clustering and sharding)
• Expected to be an Agile Practitioner – and in particular have experience of Test Driven Development (TDD) and CI/CD
• Expected to have enthusiasm for blockchain and DLT technology
• Expected to have developed with containerised Docker environments
• Expected to have used git in a Team environment
• Expected to have used Markdown
• Expected to have some experience with AWS services.
• Bonus points for experience with AWS ECS and Fargate, but we use many other services
• Bonus points for experience in API Definition and related Tools - e.g. swagger, apiary, graphql
• Bonus points for having developed with Web Sockets (socket.io) and Cote node.js library
