Our Program for New Grad- Software Engineers
We are looking for students who want to launch their careers as a software engineer. We run an experience that exposes students to a range of tech challenges and responsibilities that prepares them for the rest of their Bridgewater and tech careers at large. We are looking for passionate software engineers who want to become future tech leaders.
TEAM & FIT
We'll help you find your fit. There are several domains of focus for our software engineering full times and interns. Depending on your preferences, skills, and fit with a team, you'll work as a Software Engineer in one of three departments within our Investment Engine- Research, Trading or in our Client Service Department. You’ll be able to work on any part of the stack that you are interested in. Investment knowledge is not required for this role; we have a spectrum of engineers ranging from people who love markets and want to engage with the content on a daily basis to people who want to focus purely on the technology.
Our goal is to make sure the projects you work on are meaningful, all while allowing you to grow technically and personally as a software engineer.

You’ll work on projects like:
Building reusable API and logic in our proprietary research platform that allows researchers to write sophisticated logic.
Prototyping the next generation analytics platform for our trade execution platform, enabling us to do more complex statistical analysis and use models on the fly in our critical trading system.
Adding new features to the (open source!) rule engine powering our trade optimization that enables rule modules to be grouped and executed within logical workflow boundaries.
We have a whole team dedicated to your development. There is no set path. You'll have the opportunity to explore different areas—experience new challenges, team dynamics, and technical problems. You'll receive informal training through your department and manager. You will also receive formal training through our Tech Boot Camp where we bring in external professionals for your technical growth and development. TA software engineers have the opportunity to also travel with their teams to tech conferences across the country for training, development, and exposure. See an event you’d like to attend? We can make sure it happens! A few recent conferences include Grace Hopper, Scala Days, HashiConf, and Women Who Code.
MANAGEMENT & MENTORSHIP
We promise to make sure you don't get lost in the shuffle. We intentionally hire a small class so that the attention is on your development and growth. Every one of these software engineers within our program is intentionally paired with a tech lead or architect (who doesn’t work on their team) that will invest their time, wisdom, and knowledge into you. Many managers and mentors are alumni of the TA program themselves so they’ve been there before and will guide you through the beginning stages of your career every step of the way.
What’s work without any play? We are building a strong community of elite technologists. Between new grad events, off-site hackathons, internal and external tech talks, and our tech department events such as our themed Techtoberfest, there’s plenty of opportunity to feel right at home and connect with people like yourself. Our group is composed of a diverse set of people with varied interests, backgrounds and affinities.
When you're here, your work matters. Our software engineers within the first 3 years of their career have completed and shipped projects like scaling up our cloud clusters across multiple regions, building an entire distributed transparency system, and writing core trading logic for a new asset class. You’ll be on a small team with ambitious goals. You'll be on the front lines of real business problems from Day 1, determining, building, and delivering real solutions.
