BooksTime is looking for an exceptional salesperson to join our growing team and help scale up major sales initiatives. This role is unusual in that you will report directly to the CEO. We hope that the person who joins in this role will grow into a sales leadership role as the company continues to grow.
This role is 100% remote (and not just during the pandemic).

Our service gets better reviews and costs less than the competition. Plus, it's a service that literally every single business needs every month. That makes it a huge market ($80 bil. / year), with little competition. And that means it's a huge, huge opportunity.
What you'll do:
To a significant extent, we will build the role around the right candidate, and their skills and interests.
The main problem that you will solve, and the reason we are hiring: demand is rising through the roof. Right now, we have more leads that we have time to follow up with. Our team doesn't have time to contact all of them. You'll follow up with leads to schedule appointments and close deals.
With any leftover time, you'll also do your own prospecting (all online) to initiate conversations with small businesses about their bookkeeping needs.
As the company grows, this role can easily transition into a leadership role. As we scale up, we need to transform a tiny sales operation into a massive one, and someone will need to lead that expansion, including:
- Holistic responsibility for big growth goals and initiatives
- Developing, standardizing, and improving prospecting and closing processes
- Hiring, training, and managing sales teams
We're looking for someone who is:
A proven superstar. You must have a clear track record of measurable success selling to businesses in the US. The candidate we hire will have blown through quotas and targets and set records in previous jobs. This is the most important requirement and there is no flexibility on this point.
Experienced. Minimum 5 years experience in US B2B sales / business development required. Sales / business development experience in the accounting industry (or professional services more generally) is strongly preferred.
Friendly and positive. You are the face of BooksTime to potential clients. You make the first impression. It's important that you establish a positive tone and maintain it -- even and especially when things get tough (e.g. with difficult personalities, challenging negotiations, or stressed out people).
Good at developing trust and rapport. In our industry, it's all about trust. You'll need to be the sort of person who can easily develop a friendly rapport with strangers, and build implicit trust through your interactions with them.
A quick learner. Even if you have an accounting background, there will be a lot to learn in this role (about the various types of software our clients use, and how our services work). Even more so, if you don't know any accounting, you will have a LOT to learn. You'll need to learn about various types of software, processes, concepts and terminology. There will always be colleagues who can support and advise you, but still -- picking all of this stuff up won't be easy, and you'll need to learn a lot fast. If the idea of constantly having to learn new things excites you, this could be a great role for you. If that sounds like a nightmare, this is not the job for you.

Compensation: Compensation will be mainly performance based. The majority of your compensation will come in the form of commissions. However, during the introductory period, the structure may be different (higher base) as you get started.
