Responsibilities
The Payload Mechanical Engineer will help us develop our UAV mounted payload systems towards robustness. This will require an involvement early on in the lifecycle of the new payloads to guide the designs for manufacturability and accompany their development though prototyping, assembly and testing. A strong understanding of complex assemblies, a wealth of experience in reliability testing and a passion for building things from scratch will help you fit right in our engineering team.

Principal Duties:
• Design, prototype and validate new payload systems towards robustness
• Schedule and implement reliability testing for systems in development
• Manage and validate the production of critical parts in the payload design

Minimum skills and experience:
• Strong Computer Aided Design experience
• Strong experience in the design of parts made by plastic injection
• Strong experience in test/reliability engineering
• Good experience in complex assemblies (including moving parts, electronic boards and their thermal management, knowledge of antenna positioning – all in the scale of what we manufacture)
• Understanding of material strengths and stress testing
• Good experience in rapid prototyping
• 3D printing and CNC machining experience
• Good hands-on approach to manufacture, assembly and test of the parts themselves

Preferred skills and experience
• Electronics design experience
• Embedded programming experience in C/C++
• Knowledge of UAV dynamics and controls
