Unified tech platform for brands to build their logistics

Backend Software Engineer

€45k – €90k

Our mission is to shape the future of logistics and give brands the power to deliver.

At Bigblue we believe that brands can only grow as big as their logistics. That's why we're building a technology and network that have virtually no limits. But scalability is not our only goal: the real power of our solution lies in giving brands full visibility and ultimate control inside a simple well-integrated platform. And last, our team is committed to making sustainable logistics a reality.

Our stack was built for performance, robustness and development speed based on our previous experiences in the Silicon Valley. We have one of Paris's few 100% Go backends driven by Protobuf data definitions and structured as event-driven micro-services. We serve integrations with dozens of systems and a React/Typescript frontend, all from a Kubernetes cluster.

Bigblue's backend engineers work on our logistics orchestration platform which ensures all of the above remains true whatever the real-world conditions. As part of our core development team, your work will have real-world impact from day one on thousands of moving parcels and hundreds (and growing) of happy customers.

We're looking for people with a product-minded engineering mindset and a history (or interest) in building successful products or systems.

🔥 The job 🔥
- Design, spec out, build, test and maintain features and services to launch new verticals, integrations or capabilities
- Assume ownership for your features and services
- Contribute to technical design, review proposals and help identify areas of improvement
- Review your peers and ensure no bug slips to production
- Improve engineering standards and development tooling

👩‍🦰 You 👨
- have strong general engineering skills and prior dev experience in Go, Java, Scala, Ruby, Python, or C (to help you learn Go faster).
- have knowledge and exposure to architectural patterns of large-scale, event-driven applications
- [have the interest and empathy to reach for magical user experiences](blog.pragmaticengineer.com/the-product-minded-engineer/#tips-to-become-a-more…)
- have a strong attention to detail, hold yourself and others to a high bar when writing production code
- are curious, open-minded and a compulsive hacker news reader
- have written [technical specs](eng.lyft.com/awesome-tech-specs-86eea8e45bb9) before, and have good English writing skills

While these are the main traits we are looking for, it is not expected that a single candidate will have skills in all of these areas.

You'll join a growing team of highly skilled engineers where ownership is key and impact is the driving metric. We have the perfect scale for you to grow and have tremendous impact on the business and the industry.

We're still early stage: you'll report directly to the CTO, Mathias, whose goal will be to make you the best engineer there is! You'll also take part in weekly company-wide meetings where you'll be able to witness what it takes to run Bigblue - from sales, ops to finance.

You'll share office space with others teams (sales & ops) at Bigblue and get to build tooling for them too - they'll love you for it!

✨ Perks ✨
- You'll work in StationF, the biggest incubator in the world, and will have access to weekly talks by C-levels and successful entrepreneurs
- MacBooks are our standard, but we’re happy to get you whatever equipment helps you get your job done
- We are a team of foodies, so every single day, lunch is on us. Better said, we're cooking so you'll have access to great food all day long!

🥂 Hiring process 🥂
- 30min call to understand who you are, what you need, and answer any of your questions
- 45min interview with your future manager (our CTO) for you to understand how we work, what we value and to assess technical and human fit
- 1/2 day onsite interviews and technical tests to evaluate your skills and for you to meet one (or several) of our founders

Thank you for considering to join Bigblue! We look forward to hearing from you <3
