Team:

Benchling is on an aggressive growth path across all functions, we have recently opened an East Coast office and we will be doubling our employee population over the next 12 months.

The Talent Acquisition team is on the front lines of this expansion, ensuring that each new Benchling is an additional lever for us in our mission to empower scientists to make world-changing innovations.

In this role, you will lead a growing group of elite recruiters and coordinators while continuing to scale the Talent Acquisition team to ensure sustained future growth globally.

 

Role description:

* Fully own team strategy, mission, vision, and charter.
* Hire, mentor and develop team members ensuring business needs are met at all times.
* Drive strategies and processes (sourcing, interviewing, relocation, immigration, selection, etc) aimed at attracting truly elite talent across all functions.
* Ensure Benchling’s Talent Acquisition practices are competitive, innovative and impress candidates from the first touch through on-boarding.

** Build, maintain and continuously optimize them.
** Educate the broader company about current practices, drive execution excellence by partnering with hiring teams on process discipline.

* Partner with business leaders to ensure alignment on headcount planning, consult on future needs offering guidance on talent market realities regarding timelines, talent availability, etc.

** Build outcomes of these discussions into Talent Acquisition plans, proactively resource plan for the TA team to ensure the team is positioned for timely execution for the business.

* Partner with Finance and Legal to ensure cross-functional alignment of HC and contracting needs.
* Partner with the Learning and Growth team on all matters related to skills needs at Benchling.

** Ensure that incoming talent is aligned to existing team skills maps, proactively align Talent Acquisition strategies to seek out competencies most needed for any given time / on any given team.
** Ensure all knowledge regarding candidate skills gaps or strengths is appropriately handed off to the HRBP team so that onboarding plans are appropriately personalized and new Benchlings are set up for success from day one.

* Maintain an active network of partners throughout the broader talent acquisition ecosystem (search firms, software vendors, consultants, etc.)

 

You:

* 10+ years of Talent Acquisition experience.

** At least 5 of those in a team leadership capacity.

* Your job makes you giddy, and you do it for the joy of making your business successful.
* Proven track record of successfully scaling a SaaS business.
* Proven track record of successfully attracting world-class, elite technical talent.

** Your organization will have a reputation for excellent (at least) Engineering, Product and Design talent.

* Proven track record of having built a highly successful Talent Acquisition function from a very early stage, or have had the opportunity to observe very closely how strategy and charter and built, aligned with operations and rolled out to day to day activities.
* You do not lead with your ego in work or in life. Benchling aggressively dislikes egos, and egos don’t like us.
