Homebound Construction has an immediate opening for a Property Claims Specialist within the legal department, handling homeowners claims in our Santa Rosa, CA, or San Francisco, CA location. The Property Claims Specialist is responsible for handling homeowner’s replacement cost and rebuild estimates, to negotiate a successful result with insurance company, so that the home may be rebuilt as quickly as possible.

What You'll Do:
* Prepares submittal packages for property replacement estimates according to standardized formats, and provides these to insurance claim representatives, relative to homeowner’s property lost in disaster.
* Verifies/analyzes applicable coverage for the reported loss.
* Reviews each property loss by gathering information, conducting interviews, conducting website research as needed; reviewing and analyzing reports and related bills.
* Utilizes streamlined tools to create claims submittal packages.
* Creates standard practices and procedures in developing claims submittal packages.
* Develops persuasive arguments to advocate and negotiate settlements with all stakeholders.
* Drafts correspondence, including but not limited to, individual and form letters to insurance companies as required for clients and for process.
* Coordinates submittal packages and forms with the estimating personnel on the construction operations team.
* Develops clear understanding of claims submittal and payment processes for each insurer.
* Follows standard practices and procedures in analyzing situations or data from which answers can be readily obtained.
* Performs other duties as assigned.

What You Have:
* Technical Knowledge: General to advanced knowledge of construction estimating and/or property claims.
* Good working knowledge of PC software, including MS or Google word processing and spreadsheets.
* Estimate Negotiating: Excellent negotiation skills; strong understanding of construction costs and insurance provisions; ability to reconcile insurance provided estimates, like Xactimate and others, with market rate construction costs
* Communication Skills: Ability to convey ideas clearly and concisely in both written and verbal communications. Excellent inter-personal skills with an ability to move effectively within and across many organizational boundaries, interfacing with various internal departments and external partners and vendors
* Policy: General understanding of homeowner property insurance coverage and insurance policy analysis skills; ability to advocate for and defend standard construction estimating conventions; driven to help the maximum number of homeowners be successful in rebuilding their home and restoring their community
