Blocklight is an e-commerce analytics startup that revolutionizes the way small-to-medium size e-businesses run their operations. The first phase of our business is focused on creating the Blocklight Analytics Platform (BAP) to help e-commerce businesses/SMB’s manage their operations and grow their brands with intelligent, affordable tools. The BAP is an all-in-one analytics hub that provides users with highly customizable dashboards, informative business metrics, and tools.

About the Position

We are seeking a Head of Sales & Marketing to lead our sales / marketing efforts. This position will require creativity, patience, and leadership. Our product just soft-launched, we’ve got a Shopify App Store launch and a Product Hunt launch on the horizon in the next few months. This role will ensure we maximize these events from a marketing / sales perspective with the goal of customer acquisition. You will be responsible for managing a sales team tasked with messaging and cold calling new potential clients, client business referrals, or web leads. You’ll also work very closely with our marketing and design teams. Must be energetic, well-spoken, and eager to lead. Compensation will be equity-based and milestone-driven. Your success in this role will result in the creation of a salaried role for you should you choose. In this position you will truly be empowered to lead a technology startup.

Duties and Responsibilities

• Ability to manage a sales team of up to 6-8 people
• Research and develop marketing opportunities and plans, understand consumer requirements, identify market trends, and suggest system improvements to achieve the company's goals
• Guide sales team on messaging and calling; stand out and cut through the noise
• Implement new sales plans and advertising tactics
• Build partnerships with YouTubers, bloggers, and e-commerce shop builders
• Maintain a list/database of prospective clients
• Lead a team that closes sales, engages our audience, and work with CEO to grow the business

Requirements and Qualifications

• A Bachelor's degree in Marketing or Business, or related field
• 3-5 years' experience in marketing and/or sales
• Experience in management is advantageous
• Understanding and knowledge of sales and marketing
• Firm understanding of IB/OB sales methodologies
• Persuasive and goal-oriented
• Strong analytical, organizational, and creative thinking skills
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and customer service skills
• The ability to understand and follow company policies and procedures
• The ability to work under pressure
• Possess an energetic, outgoing, and friendly demeanor
• Self-motivated and self-directed
• Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
• In-depth understanding of company services and its position in the industry – training to be provided
• Knowledge of sales process from initiation to close
• Experience / exposure to e-commerce industry a plus
• Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel)
