While earning her management science degree with a focus in marketing at MIT, Cathy participated in a wide range of activities that the Institute offered. These included playing NCAA volleyball, chairing a committee in the student government, organizing an entrepreneurship competition, organizing multiple campus-wide events and performing in various dance shows.
After college Cathy entered the corporate world, improving project and portfolio management within the IT department of a leading healthcare company. While there, her team was a finalist in the company-wide innovation competition, presenting their branding concept to the CEO.
Three years later, with a passion to experience life beyond her home country and a desire to get back to her marketing, she accepted a position with a leading digital advertising agency in São Paulo, Brazil. Through this work she gained an understanding of the world of digital marketing, her clients' needs, the Portuguese language, and Brazilian culture.
