Job Description

Captain401 is building a retirement investment product for every small business in the United States. We make it possible for any small business to easily offer their employees a best-in-class 401(k) affordably, and our low-fee investment advice means that their employees will have more money for retirement.

We're disrupting a massive but broken industry. Current 401(k) solutions for small businesses are built on legacy software, involve physical paper forms, and are sold with shady kickbacks to financial advisors whose interests are misaligned. We're a customer-first and software-first solution. We're already operating 401(k) plans at hundreds of companies, and have been growing rapidly since our inception in 2015.

As the first content and SEO marketer at Captain401, you'll be a key part of our marketing team’s growth efforts through promoting financial literacy to small businesses and their employees. This is the job for you if you love thinking about how people find information and make decisions on the internet.

* Develop great content: identify areas of opportunity, write, edit, and execute on publication and distribution at scale
* Manage the design and technical aspects of our site so that it’s readable, informative, and high-converting
* Optimize the content marketing funnel: identify new sources of traffic, run experiments, and improve conversion rates
* Target specific customer segments with custom landing pages and content

* BA/BS degree
* 3+ yrs marketing experience (content, SEO, and/or B2B preferred)
* Excellent storyteller, writer, and editor: you are able quickly understand and communicate complex, technical topics
* Experience with hiring and managing freelance writers
* Proven track record of ROI-positive content marketing results for a site with at least thousands of weekly visitors
* Basic HTML/CSS and design skills: you can make <table>s, adjust style sheets, and are thoughtful about the online experience for readers of your content
* Experience with data analysis: pivot tables are easy for you and you’re a stickler for statistical significance
* Technical SEO background: you know what to look for in a site crawl report
