Entrepreneurship was built into Fan's up-bringing, raised in the family small-business where he started as a stock boy at 11 years old and worked all through his teenage years. Here he observed the tenacity and risk-taking necessary to make it. But as a child of immigrant parents, he optimized for making money and ended up in finance which included his first professional position at 17 in London, then went onto to have full-time roles at PricewaterhouseCoopers at 18 and Macquarie Bank at 19.
Working in corporate developed Fan's obsession with menswear, a personal custom experience honed that obsession and the with his entrepreneurial up-bringing, the confluence of things led to an inevitable founding of Blank Label. Menswear has been evolving; in the past 10 years 'fit' has become a defining value proposition, custom programs within Brooks Brothers, Zegna, Nordstrom have grown at double digit rates. At Blank Label, we believe there will be one defining, $1BN custom brand by 2020.
