Smith is an iOS app that allows the phone to listen for commands tapped… · More into the user's desk, which are then translated into commands. To use the app, the user, picks certain tap patterns and assigns them to certain commands such as sending a text message or checking the weather. The user then places the app on a desk, at which point it listens for input from the user. To do this, the app waits for knocks or taps on the desk by interpreting accelerometer input, and distinguishing actual user input from ambient vibrations. The app then uses a pattern recognition algorithm to determine which command to execute.

It then uses this data and the system time to automatically organize the user's notes into a folder for the class that they are currently in. It also allows for note taking in photo, audio, or video form. To make long lectures easier to search through, students are able to place markers at any point during a recording for quick and easy reference later. I created the portion of this app that allowed a user to record in various forms.

I mainly build iOS apps in either Swift of Objective-C. I often design the apps myself using Sketch or Photoshop before starting on a large project. I participate and win prizes in a lot of hackathons. I also am a iOS development freelancer.
